McIntosh MR87 arrived today

Color me impressed Did not realize that this tuner had actual tuning dial with pointer + flywheel , just like old school tuners Thought photos showed electronic simulation of dial. Happy camper for sure now

Sound quality from fm stations from this tuner amazed me, these stations sound awful on car stereo in comparison.

Strange no fm ant in box, just am ant...

Unless they changed it since the MR88, the pointer is simulated, it's a series of 100 (or whatever the math is) segments that light up as you go up/down the dial. Happy listening!

Dan.......Your new McIntosh MR87 tuner looks fabulous and right at home next to your beautiful C70 preamplifier. Congratulations.

McIntosh does not provide the cheap dipole wire antenna seen with many lesser FM tuners. A tuner of this caliber is intended to be used with a high quality outdoor antenna for maximum performance.

Will re arrange pieces, to put turntable back - guess I really old school now with McIntosh tuner, Nakamichi cassette deck and Dual turntable

I had Magnum Dynalab FT101 tuner in 1988 and we sold a lot of tuners in 1980's and 90's. Have not sold tuner by itself at work and my tuner first 1 ordered in 10 years now...

Besides McIntosh and Magnum Dynalab only see 1 model from Yamaha and 1 model from Nad.

Tuner section in most surround sound receivers seem to be after thought and so crappy, can not pick up local radio station without ant attached

I too really enjoy my Magnum Dynalab Tuner MD108T/SE. One of these days you need to hear the T-1200 from Accuphase.

Simply amazing!
