I was set to sell my main system and downgrade a bit, and aquired a slightly used LS 36.5 preamp ahead of the sale.
The deal fell through and im stuck with two preamps now. However, im quite impressed with the LS 36.5. Its highly musical and I am really enjoying it. Can anyone recommend some decent upgrades from the stock tubes? I only have the preamp and not the separate power supply. Thanks! |

You will have much more luck finding options for the rectifier tube. Definitely worth upgrading that to a NOS Mullard 5AR4 or equivalent. There is a fat base Mullard 5AR4 out there that will give you some extra warmth and thickness in the bass, but ultimately it took my system too far in that direction so I didn't keep it. Hope that helps...
