Default PC cable length

I remember from a thread on the forum that the best length for PC was 2m. If I remember correctly, it was the CEO of Wireworld who said it relayed by Ivan.

I was curious about this and I was wondering if it would be best, for exemple, to get a 2m Electra over a 1m Silver Electra which would be roughly in the same ballpark price-wise ?

So longer but lower quality or shorter but higher quality ?

2.0M is what I use and recommend; YMMV

Whats the story on 2M cables being better? I would expect the short the cable the better.

To my knowledge, I believe this only applies to Wireworld power cables. These cables are geometrically designed to act as filters, rejecting noise. David Salz, the designer of these cables, recommends a minimum of 2m in order for them to have enough runway to do their thing.

Georges...don't compromise unless it's absolutely necessary would be my advice.

Quality of cable does have an effect on quality of listening, especially when moving up from the cheaper (or cheapest) commercially available cables to a higher quality cable such as what is offered by WireWorld. And I say this based on personal experience with WW cables when I upgraded my streamer to DAC AES/EBU cable.

However, the differences between two you have selected may not be discernable. Only you will be able to tell.

Not every cable company subscribes to the 2m length paradigm. Of course what is agreed upon in this crazy hobby? I will say that you will have a better chance for resale if your cables are 2m.

I subscribe to what David Salz said with respect to the Wireworld power cables he designs. Beyond that, you can't stretch cables so I prefer to have more length than I may necessarily need. I may wish to use a power cable in another application that requires a greater length. I always purchase 2 meter power cables.

Which is why I'm asking as I see many buying the 2m length. It seems like the right answer is to have at least 2m even if it's a lower range.

I'm more curious than really looking at the moment

Generally I'd go for the shorter better cable (from same manufacturer) if have to choose. But 1.5m being minimum, for flexibility sake if not anything else.
However WW is a case in point, designed to work optimally at 2m it seems.
