Philippe, I can't be confident of the reliability as I only have about 200 -250 hrs on mine but so far it is dead quiet and sounds wonderful I am assuming in the 2000 hr range. I know they said the EAT tube was rated at 10000 hrs when I bought it and it sounds very good maybe a little sterile for my tastes.

Unfortunately I am finding out the hard way. But, it's fun to pick different flavors.

But sometimes it is necessary to make its own experiment $$$$ before reaching the wisdom

Philippe.......When I had two MC275 power amps and a C1000T preamp my cabinet was full of tubes. I had over 20 - KT88's, 24 - 12AT7's, and 32 - 12AX7's, all from various manufacturers including many NOS Mullard, Philips, and Telefunken tubes. It is fun to roll different tubes into amps and preamps, but if your not careful you'll wind up with about four or six tube types from every manufacturer you can get your hands on. I finally got control of myself, settled on keeping some of the 12AX7 Gold Lions and NOS Telefunken tubes, then sold the rest along with the two MC275's. Now, I just have to keep 12AX7's around for my C2300 and my Musical Fidelity X-Can headphone amp.

Tube rolling is fun, entertaining, enlightening, and satisfying when you find the right combinations, but it can also drive you crazy if you let it.

I completely agree...Dan... it is for it that I stopped introducing too many variables into the equation....

in the "old" days I had to roll 2 or with my old GG preamp, 3 tubes at a time.... now that the future is here, it's down to 1 tube with ET5. Why then would I be spending as much $$ on 1 tube now as I did on 2 or 3 in the past? .. yea, I guess I know the answer.

Granted it has only been in for a few minutes but WOW what a difference. Better all around. I'll let it burn in tonight and when I come home from work, play DJ and see what happens. I'm sure I'll need a few days (50-100 hours break in on the tube) to get a good sense of what's going on. The first song I cranked up was Peter White's "Ramon's Revenge" (thanks Ivan - awesome album) - Beautiful

cj use Sovtek 6922's as stk now?

they have always used Electro Harmonix in the past. Is the Electro now hard to get, as it is better sounding than the Sovtek.
