Wow. That's frustrating and surprising for such an expensive player.

Too bad they just don't replace the entire unit.

That's really what a high end manufacturer should do.

That’s a little expensive don’t you think, Aditya?

Joey, for a 30k unit, I find that just appropriate.
That's what they do with a of of other stuff also.
When it appears to be a bad device right from the start, they replace it.

Was thinking it was about time to pull the trigger on a K-05x. But, this thread has put me off. Can't imagine that Esoteric does not keep these parts in stock in what is likely their largest market (NA).

While I agree that swapping out the unit would have been the best solution, keeping an older model in stock for doing same would not only be the cost of the unit, but the ongoing inventory cost (storage space, handling, etc.).

I'll add a +1 on this; when I got my P-03U years ago, it came to light that the video & scaler board in it had issues with IRE fluctuations under certain circumstances within the first year of ownership; this was very difficult to find and only showed up readily when the unit was driven by balanced power. In that case Esoteric took it back (i had to pay shipping) to Montibello CA at the time, got the new board expressed (3days from Japan) and replaced it, tested it and returned it with white-glove pallette-based delivery. For that repair, replacement IMHO was absolutely appropriate.

This on the other hand is another matter entirely. The transport is part of the heart and soul of the K1. After 1 failed attempt like this, I'd be pushing for full unit replacement. One could argue that should have been the first response from the vendor.
