Thanks for the link Cisco. I'll give it a try hopefully later today.

Alberto, I became a SET fan 4 yrs ago. I have both 2a3 and 300b based amps. The 300b would be my favorite if I had to choose just one. It has such a lucious midrange but the 2a3 does some things better especially at the frequency extremes. That's why I used them in the comparison of the two G's. The GM's seem to go deeper, the GH's have that beautiful midrange. To be fair though, the GM's are brand new and are still breaking in. I don't play music real loud that often, so breakin may take a little longer before I get the full measure of it. They are in different rooms also, so I haven't done a side by side yet.

Thank you for the explanation! I get it now.

Update.

Thanks to Cisco for getting my pix up. They aren't the best because I was testing.

As I mentioned in post #5, this will be a hard forum to keep active because we are all busy listening to our SF's.

I don't know which of the 2 I would pick if I had to choose. One will fit in a system a little better. I was suprised when I hooked up a 10 watt 300b SET to the GH and got a real special sound. I listen usually up to the 80-90 db range and within that it was sweet, no strain. They both sound good in my 2 rooms, office is 12x14, bigger room is 26x18 both 10' ceilings. Office is nearfield 6-7 feet. I'm very impressed with their versatility.

More if interested.

Two dot, anything specific?

Interesting note on the Red Violin color of the GM. I think mine must of been just shipped here from Italy. I ordered the RV based on the pictures I'd seen and when mine came out of the box they were very orange. It was the most beautiful orange I have seen, but red? Not so much. Sumiko assured me they would darken with age and even in the first 2 weeks they went to an reddish orange. At 6 weeks now I would call them a rust color but getting redder. When I go back and look at some pix of the Stradavari in the RV, I see variations of a red/orange. Sumiko sent me a link to some pix of the facrory and it showed some G cabinets that were being made and they were ORANGE. My take is it's the red stain on the Maple (which can vary from a pale blond to a yellowish orange). Red + Yellow = Orange. As the stain ages (oxidizes?) it darkens and depending on the shade of the Maple, it will become either more red or red/orange. This won't matter to some but I thought I would put it out there.

I've now had both G's in my home office. It's a tough room. When we first bought this house, I tried out many speakers in this office with not so good results. I finally found a combo of SET amps and single driver speakers to work the best. No reflections from multiple drivers, no x/o, nearfield not a problem. This worked for 3+ yrs. I did take a gamble on the G's working in there but I had wanted them so long that if they didn't, I would put them in the big room. Well the G's work great in there. SF did a great job on the x/o. When you have lived with a x/o less speaker for yrs, you can tell pretty easy when a x/o is messing things up. Both G's sound seamless.
