Default PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium HP

If this Dialogue Premium HP is not a screaming bargain for how good it sounds, I don't know what is. Superb integrated. I was not expecting it to sound quite this good. I got the HP in black. Love the look of it too.

Triode mode had the Harbeth speakers singing effortlessly with mesmerizing and captivating midrange and I simply could not find any shortcomings this evening. Just the right amount of openness, airiness and transparency while sounding smooth and rich in the midrange and top end sweetness that has me very happy.

After my listening session was over for the night to let my better half rest, I put on my headphones and listened for over an hour in Triode mode... Have to say the EL34 straight into headphones is some serious magic...

Thank you Dan, Jack. This combo hit the sweet spot for me. I wasn't completely sure which way it was going to go with the Harbeth and tubes. Turns out for my ears, it is pure honey.

Serge

I've got one of their power amps that they market under the Mystere brand that is built in the Melody factory and it has that same EL-34 midrange majic. If I remember correctly the PrimaLuna EL-34's are Shuguang's and the 12AU7's may be too. As you can still find NOS 12AU7's at reasonable prices you can have a blast mixing and matching them especially the input tubes. A safe bet is the 50's RCA Cleartops which you can pickup from Andy at VTS or other dealers. You might even already have a tube stash picked up when prices were more reasonable. Whether or not you decide to tube roll or not it is a great amp as is.

Jack,
That is something I will have to explore for sure at some point. I have to say, it sounds great as it is with the stock tubes so far and it is not even broken in fully! Thanks for the tip and I will look into the options you mentioned.

Serge

When you get ready just call Andy Bowman on the phone and tell him what you have and what you are trying to accomplish. He not only tests his tubes on testers but also in gear for noise and grades according to what they are going to be used in. Happy listening!
