Default Which speakers?

I am back in audio after being gone a long time (using sonos, peachtree, era and rhapsody now)

For my living room my wife has agreed with the looks of sf - and it isn't where I will really be doing listening in a Wilson system I am putting together. I do like the sound of sf though especially for the type of music we play there.

I am looking for a nice pair of pre owned SF's with a nice amp to drive them, knowing the source will be via a music server of some sort or rhapsody like.

Thin profile is better. I liked the Cremona m monitors but what else should I consider that I could easily purchase with confidence? And an amp? Pre or dac? (do I even need a pre?)

Many thanks from a newbie (my primary system quest is on the Wilson page)

Freestone...what's your budget for the living room system. If you want to stick with SF speakers, do you want only monitors or can you consider floorstanders as well? My sense is an integrated amp maybe with onboard DAC and SF speakers will result in a very streamlined and WAF-approved system for the LR.

For the integrated amp, I would suggest Bryston's new integrated amp: B-135. Quick specs on this: 135wpc into 8ohm and 180wpc into 4ohms. You can get the option DAC module to make it an all-in-one unit. Here is a pic:

As for speakers, if monitors only, you will find many owners of the Cremona Auditor M that will recommend it:

f your budget can stretch a bit, than a used Guarneri Momento would also be a great option:

I don't really have a budget - more value oriented and pre owned. Not too crazy though I suppose!
I love the way cremonas look (and I think my wife would strongly prefer them) - better than the stands of the Guarneri to me but I understand the need for the stability. At that point reasonably slender floor standing would work.
If I found a nice deal on a pair of guarneri I would probably get them if they are that much better than the cremonas.

New retail on Auditor Ms is about the same as used GM. Used on both about a $3000 difference.

I found a used pair of Sonus Faber Amati Homage for $8k. Are these worth considering? May be too bulky for WAF for "her" living room. I assume much better dynamics than GM?

$8k is in the ballpark for used Amati Homage. You will want to carefully match the amplifier to the Amatis. Best value by far would be a used Sonus faber Musica, if you can find one.

There's a mint condition Musica on A'gon for 2.5K.

You can also get a used Guarneri Homage for 1-2K more than a used Auditor.

Is the Musica much better than a Peachtree which has a nice DAC in it for digital?
Another one listed for $3k. I don't really need the preamp switching section - digital only.
