I have heard a few Magico set-up in the last few years in different venue: Singapore, Hong Kong, thailand & lately the Philippines.
They were driven with various amps from Soulution, Spectral, Krell, Lamms and BAT. For some odd reason, i just can't connect myself with the music. Yes, its detailed, great soundstage, etc, but i find the sound a bit on the sterile side. I guess its just not my cup of tea. But some of my companion liked them a bought a pair of V3s.
I would definitely stick w/ the Wilson Sashas. They are more musical & communicative. But again, YMMV.

That's my opinion too. Wilson speakers are much more musical than Magico ones....

Great...just don't go and ask the same question on a Magico thread.

Robert, good point. You really have to trust your own ears and decide for yourself. Reading about musical fidelity is about as realistic as reading about sex.

I am a Sophia 3 owner and never have objections to the high freq performance of them, but still wondering when are they going to implement better tweeters into new Wilsons.
I also have Salon2 in the same system, love the sound too. I will sell both Salon2/Sophia3 for new bigger pairs, which may be Sasha, Maxx3, Q5, TAD R1, Altair, depends on how much cash I get from selling two pairs.

The tweeter in the Sasha sounds MUCH better that the one implemented in Sophia. I was actually quite surprised by the magnitude of improvement when I switched from Sophia II to Sasha.

I just purchased a Maxx 3. So I have done a lot of thinking regarding Wilson drivers compared to Magicos and Rockports. I think there still may be problems with Beryllium tweeters being too hot. I don't say that this is a huge problem but too much sizzle up top detracts greatly from a speaker's sound. I have heard the Sashas many times. The treble is smoothe, detailed and extended. There is no question that greater extension is obtainable with Be than with Ti but there is a price to pay. With speakers subtractive problems only become apparent when one hears another speaker that is very much better. There is much more difference in the sound of speakers than with other components, so with speakers it is very much a matter of personal taste. When you find a speaker you like, stich with it, try to improve it by matching components that complement it. There will never be a perfect speaker. This is obviously a cliche but there is a lot of truth in it. I am leaving sealed enclosures for a while and entering the realm of ports. I'll see how I like the Wilson bass. From what I have heard in the dealer showroom the Sashas have abundant puchy articulate bass. I have to have bass. Don't like thin sounding, detailed, transparent, etc systems. Feel that many times these qualites are achieved at the expense of light bass. If one eliminates the bass altogether, one will definitely notice more detail and a false transparancy in the mids and highs. Bass always obscures these qualities somewhat. Certainly i understand that there are many recordings that contain little bass.

I disagree with you regarding Beryllium or Diamond tweeters. In my mind they put life back into a speaker. As you note there are no perfect speakers and one persons "hot" is another's "extended", one persons "detailed" mid is another's "thin".

As with all things, the points above about Berrylium tweeters all depends on how they are implemented in the speaker (a combination of crossover design, baffle deisgn in which the Be tweeter sits, the internal design dealing with the backwaves, and porting scheme, etc...). I have heard Be tweeters that sound hot and some that sound smooth and extended. I don't think you can generalize.

Same gors for the often cited silk dome vs. metallic (in general not only Be) tweeters. I think it all depends on the deign and implementation of that design.
