As a Vermonter who lives in the middle of nowhere, that's a great idea. I can't tell you how many things I haven't bought because I can't hear them in my system and because it's such a long trip to any dealer.

And even then, when I get to a dealer, they generally won't have my electronics or current speakers. And the chance that they have those two brands along with the brand I'd like to try is infinitesimal. For example, I've always wondered how the 14B would sound with my Sim P-8, but I'm unlikely to ever find out. The same with your BDA vs. the Berkeley or one of the Sim DACs, with or without your BDP.

But I'm sure that's always been the case, and always will be, for anyone who doesn't live in a major city near a large dealer.

I also live, from the audio perspective, in the middle of nowhere. I ordered my BDP-1 and BDA-1 from Audioadvisor.com. They have a 30 day return policy. I didn't return my Brystons.

You might contact them about a "trial" of a 14B and BDP.

One thing they have wrong though is keeping the dealer in the loop. NO need. What's the dealer doing for the long distance buyer? How does he earn his share of the profit? He's just taking orders for those customers. Why not cut him out and reduce the price by 25% or more for the product?

I welcome the concept. For those of us that live in areas of the country in which there are no high end dealers, this could be a refreshing approach.

Thanks!!!! I notice a lot of "teal" meters here. I think my ex still has my Mac gear, C20 MC275, C28, etc. I kinda miss the toasty warm glow of the 275.
