I'm gonna go ahead and order these as well......Dire Straits is kind of like the Star Wars trilogy......I think I've owned the albums on every medium since 8 track!

I don't have the new SACD's but I do prefer the original Red/Blue swirl and Target CD's over the SHM CD's.

I have both, but I never compared directly. If I have time, I can do it today and share my thoughts.

Ok, I have just directly compared the two sacd's.

They are both very similar, it's not night and day. They are both a little lacking in bass in my opinion. I think the new mofi mix is a bit more relaxed and laid back. I think they tried to add a little bit of layering with mark's voice, because the original mix kinda feels like everything is the same volume. In the mofi, he's a little recessed. It makes me want to turn it up louder. I think it is a little quieter overall but not much. When I turn it up so that mark's voice is about the same volume on both discs, the mofi pulls ahead slightly.

It's really a matter of taste. If you love love dire straits, go ahead and buy them both [emoji16]

I paid a visit to Marc’s today.

Things were sounding very good related to his recent updates to his system.

We played the Dire Straights Mobile Fidelity album he has been waiting for along with 2 SACD versions; SHM and Mobile Fidelity - he has other versions that we didn’t get into.

Marc indicates the M/F SACD was from the same source as the vinyl copy, however, after playing each, I thought the SHM had more characteristics to the M/F and he did too.

I do agree the M/F album was engineered well, and offered some balance by defining the low end where it was virtually non existent on the SACDs.

Overall, each recording was decent, and if I only had one choice, it would go to the vinyl.

I ordered the SACDs more than a week ago, but no news. This wait has been eternal.
Well, we'll have to wait a little longer.
