Freddie King - Freddie King is a Blues Master
Qobuz 24/96

This is a mono album.
I like it.

"...King's unforced singing has rarely been captured so happily on record before and his playing is nonpareil all the way through....a superb album of modern blues...performed with taste, vitality, and above all imagination..."

Muddy Waters - Sings "Big Bill"
via Qobuz

He was so good!

AllMusic reviewer Cub Koda stated "Waters's tribute album to the man who gave him his start on the Chicago circuit, this stuff doesn't sound much like Broonzy so much as a virtual recasting of his songs into Muddy's electric Chicago style. Evidently the first time Waters and his band were recorded in stereo ... with some really great harp from James Cotton as an added bonus.".

I’d say you’re a bit too modest, on all counts[emoji6]

Default What Blues are you Listening To Today?

I love the blues harp and played it in a band in my youth. Primich is a great player, and this is one of his best. He passed way too young.

Marcus King - El Dorado
Fantasy (2020)

Just recently discovered this young guy - great guitar player and great blues/soul voice, although some songs are better than others.

Tinsley Ellis - Winning Hand
Alligator (2018), via Qobuz

Great guitar player, but singing isn’t always engaging.

Canned Heat, "Boogie 2000". Some nice slide guitar and B-3 work on the album, plus the vocals. But, 30 years between albums seems a bit extreme.
