Default A McIntosh System In Transition

The McIntosh system in the first photo was my sound system for 13 years, from 1995 until 2008. In 2008 a transition began. During the next two and a half years the system grew to become the system in my living room today. Here is a look back at the gear that has come and gone in two and a half years. The last photo is the system today.

This is just the living room sound system. Between 2009 and 2010 I have also built a complete McIntosh two channel tube system in the studio, and a complete McIntosh HT system. I have been a busy beaver, for sure.

I'd say May 2009 is when it started getting out of control.

This retirement put a lot of time on my hands. I had to have something to do. I should have just bought the last system first. I could have saved some coin.

Hi Dan,

Thank you for that retrospective! It makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one going through it

I ordered a Bryston 10B sub from the Master and will be adding 1 or 2 F113's.

Joe

Hi Dan,

A wonderful journey. Seemingly, there's always a point in time that things went out of control ... called it coincidence, 2008 seem to be the year for me too!

I would not be able to say buying the last system (TODAY's system) would have saved me coins, cause I was then madly in love with McIntosh .... and to an extent Wilson until I drop them when the "8"'s came.

Still an unforgettable journey for me!

I can see you are very happy now (not contended as yet ... cause I think the MC2301's has yet to reside as part of your vast collection)! I look forward to the day!

Meanwhile, I will stay as where I am .... and hopefully, I can expand into a full Meridian HT system from the current STEREO setup!

Cheers!

Dan, thanks for sharing. It's somehow comforting to see someone so knowledgable having gone down this path. Every step based on informed analysis/evaluation. Enjoying each change to it's fullest extent. It sure looks like you where having fun! The question is, "Knowing what you know now, would you cut to the chase?"

There are many of us here at varying stages of the same pattern. Some of us by researching the AA threads, stand on the shoulders of giants to our great benefit. I hope you continue to enjoy your many great choices!
