I had XRT1K's with monoed MC275s for a long time. Pushed them no problem and sounded great.

Strads & XRT1K's are $10K apart; Strad's $45K and XRT1K's $35K, to most that is a pretty big difference.

Even putting price aside, the two speakers have very different personalities. So much so, that I chose to own both the Strad's and XRT2K's (with even a much larger price difference)

The Strad's are ever so sweet, refined, addictive and musical.

The XRT1K's are dynamic, accurate, powerful, and full of finesse.

The XRT2K's are 1K's on Steroids.

Ivan my man, sorry to be a pest, but do you have any further thoughts on the benefits/differences between XRT1K and Strads? I'm not really a "critical" listener, so some of the technical terms don't mean a great deal to me. Do you think the Strads are worth the extra outlay? Or do you think if I mate the XRT1Ks with something like the MC1.2KWs, I should be in audio heaven?

First, you're not a pest.

Speakers are like women, there is simply no right or wrong for the individual concerned. It all comes down to personal preference, your listening tastes, and individual experiences.

I have zero regrets with my choices; heck I even bought a 2nd pair of XRT2K's I liked them so much.

The real test is after you own and live with your choice, ask yourself would you do it again. For me it is "Yes"

My answer to your question is yes, the Strads are worth the extra money.

Whereas with me, I find the SF lineup too warm and fuzzy - and would pick the 1K's in a heartbeat over just about any product in the SF lineup.

Like mentioned before, it's all personal preference. It also depends on how hard you intend to drive them. I would be cautious pushing extreme power through the strad's vs. 1k's - just about anything Mc means "gimme more power."

Interesting guys, a couple of different opinions there.

Ivan, Vesuvius, just gonna post a message I typed in another thread:

Hey man, one room that I'd be quite keen to put it in, is approximately 10 foot by 15 foot, but it's really more like 10x20, because the room is open plan, and opens up into the hallway, in a sort of T. I would put the speakers against the 10 foot wall, facing out into the 15/20 foot length of the room. Hope that makes sense?!

Am I crazy to even contemplate putting speakers like the XRT1K in such a room? Sadly I can't demo them in the UK, let alone home demo, so it really will be an experiment.

Any thoughts would be great!
