Default Aaaccchhhkkk - bryston won't see files.

I downloaded two files from sound liaisons (great recordings from the Netherlands) in .flac form. Copied them to multiple drives (harddrive on computer and two back up drives) and they show up in directory and play just fine from all of those drives (via jriver and itunes, etc). I also checked the usb drives that I use with my bdp-2 from both a laptop and the desktop and the files show up in the directory and play just fine from that usb drive.

They do not appear, however, when I connect that usb drive to the bdp-2. All of my other files show up just fine and play fine, but not those two. I've deleted them, renamed them, moved the, to a different directory on that usb, etc. tThey simply don't show via either mpod or the browser connection to the bryston.

Any thoughts and ideas are appreciated. I was so excited to have a nice afternoon session with two great new recordings, and now feel like I'm in IT hell.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I assume you hit UPDATE in the Manic Moose interface or Refresh Local Cache on MPAD or MPOD?

Yes, multiple times, and just to be sure, I powered both devices (ipad and laptop) completely down and powered them back up, to no avail.

Other thoughts?

Thanks. JH

No I am sorry I do not other than the files are somehow different than a typical file? I assume as you say other files copied to the same thumbdrive show up OK.

Email Chris Rice at Bryston and he should be able to help. - crice@bryston.com

How's that for service?!?!? Chris answered my email on a Sunday afternoon, identified the issue and I'm listening to beautiful music through the BDP-2.

The issue was a file permissions issue as my drive is formatted for macs (HFS+). I have no idea why, but these files had permission settings that had to be changed for the Bryston to see them - easy as pie, once you knew what to do.

If you haven't downloaded music from Soundliaisons.com, and you're interested at all in jazz, you should give it a try. They focus on capturing great recordings and it makes all of the difference in the world. Plus, the artists they have are just great (if you're interested at all in Jazz).

Thanks James, Thanks Chris, and Thanks Bryston for the BDP-2.

Yep, the Bryston guys are always on call. I've been in a different country on a weekend before and I've gotten 3 minute replies with firmware updates and HEX codes for the beastly SP3.
