Default New Bryston Mini Ts - Great speakers

I recently installed a pair of Bryston Mini Ts. I had been looking for new speakers for some time, but I hadn't been able to find the right ones for the location. The location, in this case, is a cabinet in my living room that provides only enough room for a set of small speakers - mounted horizontally. At one point, I almost bought a set of full size speakers, intending to just put them on the floor in front of the cabinet, but I discarded the idea for practical reasons - they would have been in the way and I would have been navigating around them forever. So, after a long search, I talked to Ivan about the Mini Ts. They appeared to be perfect in terms of size - in fact they fit so well it became a tough job to get them in place. The shelf is up about 6 feet in the air, so the work has to be done on a ladder, and the fit is so tight I can barely fit a hand in around the speakers. At about 40 lbs each, they are a hefty speaker for the small size.

The best part of the story is that the Mini Ts sound great. In fact, most of the time, I forget about the small size of the boxes. I am still trying to get some playing time on the speakers. They should break in a little, although, I must say, they sound good right out of the box. The first thing I noticed is how true the sound is. They are accurate, but still very musical. They whole frequency range is reproduced smoothly without any noticeable peaks. I will post a better analysis of the sound once I have let them play for a while.

If you think you want to mount speakers like these sideways, I would suggest you talk to me or Ivan about how to do it. Based on his recommendation, I used Sorbothane feet to align the speakers the way I wanted them and isolate them from the rest of the cabinet.

I did have a problem with one of the speakers when I first received it. My dealer (Ivan) was instrumental in helping me to get a quick resolution to the problem. As I have gotten older, I have realized that problems happen - it is the response to problems that separates the good companies from the bad. Dealing with Ivan, there is some assurance that things will be OK in the end.

In summary, I can highly recommend the Bryston Mini Ts. They look good and sound very good.

Here are a couple of photos of the speakers in place. It is hard to provide a good view of where it is in the room, but this gives you some idea of how it looks. I notice all the minor junk laying around that I didn't notice when taking the pictures.

The cable you see at the right is for the microphone that attaches to the MEN220. I will remove it after all the setup is complete.

That is a TV in the center of the cabinet. My wife always hated looking at a blank TV, so she made a cover for it. I watch the TV so little that the cover stays on almost all the time.

Nice set up. The Mini Ts fit like a glove in there!

Which color veneer is that? The Boston Cherry?

That is Rosewood. It does fit in well. So little is seen that most any color would have worked.

Do you have enough room to separate them and put them on stands? If not, you probably are not getting the best sound from them, i.e., no imaging or separation.

I know there are several things wrong with the overall layout. You might be surprised how good it actually sounds though.

The fact that they are up high provides very good sound and coverage in the room.

Are the Mini Ts a sealed box or do they have a port?
