'Stand-by' mode - does it keep circuits warm
With recent McIntosh amplifiers at least, 'Stand-by' mode uses less than 0.5W. Does this small electrical consumption just keep the power supply warm or does it go further and keep the circuits or critical sounding components ready to sound better?
For a Krell KAv400 integrated in 'Stand-by' it stays 'just warm' in a number of areas (plus you can feel the warmth on the chassis lid) and guess it uses about 5-10W for this. The Krell manual recommends leaving the amplifier in the stand-by mode, ready to play music. McI amps sound sweet even at start-up but wondering if 'Stand-by' mode has been designed to benefit any component sound wise or whatever. Any technical answers? Anthony |

I'm wondering about this too, do most Mc owners keep their equipment on standby all the time?
Does thermaltrak technology really influence the warmup time of the amplifiers? |

I'd guess that most folks keep their stuff on standby, especially if it's all tied together with a complex remote system.

If you use the trigger to turn everything on, they you have to leave it in standby. Some models are in standby all the time like my MS300, and MVP871.

Standby, equals ready to receive turn on command. By upcoming regulations this needs to be below .5 watts and will drop to lower levels in the future.
Thanks,
