On the preamp, it should be quiet. It may have no been handled appropriately during shipping and I would be happy to check it out.
Something easy for you to check is tightening down the transformer mounting screws, which are accessible from the bottom of the power supply chassis on your preamp.

It was silent at my shop. It's very robust and well built equipment, but things happen.

Please email me for further discussion.

Matt, I have no issue with the Mr. Ts. In fact, I'm very pleased about their performance. The improvement was as large as changing my preamp to the Aurieges.

Will email you on the Aurieges issue. Thanks.

Glad you like'em. Mr. T's kick butt and can be a profound addition, indeed.

Your Mr. T's look handsome, nice photo.

How about we set up a time for you to bring the Mr t and the Aureiges over to my place and we can insert them in my system and see if the hum is still there.

Default Shindo Apetite

I just wanted to chime in and let you know that I had a minor mechanical hum on my Apetite. I bought it used from a friend in Colorado who had gotten it new from Matt at Perfect Pitch.

I tried Matt's suggestion of tightening down the transformer screws from the bottom and I did find that the screws were loose. Tightening the screws significantly reduced the hum. It's not completely silent but it's much quieter and now barely noticeable, except with one's ear right by the Apetite.

Shippers can be very rough on heavy packages, so perhaps it isn't surprising that screws need retightening after being bounced around.

Thank you very much. It's good to be here. While this isn't the place to make introductions, I'm happy to find this place. I'm located in the SF Bay area but lived in the NY area, about 1 hour north of NYC, for many years.

I'm using the Shindo Apetite with some Reference 3A MM de capo i speakers, which makes a nice combination. I'll post additional information in a more appropriate part of the site.

Thanks,
---Gary

Hi Gary, welcome to AA. Thank you for your excellent first post. I will be trying that for sure. Just want to get some instructions from Matt first.

What's the rest of your setup?
