Please make an order online for a silver Yggdrasil. It is absolutely necessary to put a note in the special comments box that you are making a special order for a black Yggdrasil, otherwise you will be shipped a silver Yggdrasil. Once you have your order number, please email it to me so I can add additional notes on the back end of the order as well. Please understand if we are unable to fill the special order for the black Yggdrasil, the order will be canceled.

Be sure to keep us posted if you get the Yggdrasil DAC before I do. Like you, I want to discover for myself what all the hoopla is about with the R2R miltibit ladder DAC versus the Delta Sigma DACs. The praise for the Schiit Yggdrasil DAC has been universal so there must be something there.

I inquired about a black gungnir and was told they only use black (paint) when there is an issue with the silver anodizing.

rushca01.......After reading your post I emailed Schiit and asked specifically if the black finish on a Yggdrasil is an anodized finish or a painted finish. Looking at the photo of a black Yggdrasil it is difficult to determine whether the finish is paint or an anodized finish. We should have an answer soon.

Sounds like a Black DAC from Schitt is about a rare sighting as the Northern Hairy-Nosed Wombat, Pygmy Three-Toed Sloth or a Red-Crested Tree Rat.

Thank you for your interest. I’m sorry but we sold out of our black Gungnir metal. We may offer it again in the future, but do not have a date of availability or know when we will have them in black again. Black metal is not a standard inventory item for us. Our metal manufacturer will only provide us with black if they have a batch of chassis with a less-than-perfect anodizing finish. When this occurs, their only option is to paint it
black.

Yeah, they only do black for clear aluminum chassis that have anodizing imperfections. Schiit has had some "metal problems" with Yggy chassis from the chassis house, and to reduce scrap, they anodize some of these in black.

I think it's paint. I'm basing this on photos of black Schiit Vidar chassis I've seen that appear to be painted. But, it could be black anodizing.
