Default Apple iMac Pro

Was so looking forward to the new iMac Pro. Very impressive specs for a one box table top solution. When I saw the price which was finally revealed, I almost chocked on my morning coffee.. $5k just for the base price. Almost $14k fully loaded. Has Apple lost their mind???

Serge.......The base iMac Pro is fairly well configured. It is clear Apple aims this computer at the pro video and sound market.

You can purchase a nicely configure HP All-in-One Windows 10 computer, 27 inch touch screen, Intel i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 2TB hard drives, 256GB SSD, AMD Radeon 530 Graphics (2 GB GDDR5 dedicated), wireless keyboard and mouse, DVD writer and more for $1399.99 with free shipping. http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-pav...-one-27-r055se

I recommended this computer to a friend and helped him set it up in his home office. It is fast, has a superb screen, and its all-in-one design is very attractive on his desk. If my older i7 desktop PC wasn't still trucking along just fine I would certainly consider this computer.

Dan, I am still using and still pretty happy with my 4 year old Alienware Andromeda PC running a i7-3770 @3.40GHz with 16GB or ram. Windows 10 64 bit. No problems what so ever and it will be 5 years old soon.

I was looking forward to the iMac Pro to possibly replace the Alienware PC on my table but I guess I was naïve in thinking the iMac Pro would be priced much lower than the $5k base price. Oh well, no rush to upgrade, I'll just keep using my PC for the time being and I still have my MacBook Pro which is still fantastic after 4 years as well.

As the name mention, this is an actual pro machine. They are using Xeon chips, full SSD, high speed RAM... They have not compromised on anything for the specs (even the base version). According to reviews, this is 2x to 3x faster than the iMac (not 20%, 2x!).

They are targeting a niche that has felt forgotten by Apple since the last update of the Mac Pro was way back in 2013.

If you want to build a similar machine, you'd get the same price roughly without the screen and form factor.

This is a serious machine and the priced to match.

Agreed, this machine is not for the average home computer user.

Default Apple iMac Pro

It’s a replacement for the Mac Pro tower. I have a couple friends in graphic design who are drooling over them. These are necessary for that kind of work.

They’re not designed for guys who only use a computer to rip cds and surf audio blogs.
