Sorry to hear that. Thatíll certainly sour you on them. Iíve had pretty good luck with ETA. One watch in particular has an ETA/Valjoux 7750 that consistently runs better than +8 seconds a day. While +/-8 seconds per day is good, itís not great for a daily wear watch, at least not for me. I donít want to set a watch every day or two. Iíll wear it on occasion, but Iíll always go back to my Rolex Submariner or my Sea-Dweller as a daily watch. Both are COSC certified and the Sub is astonishingly accurate - it doesnít gain/lose even a second over a months time!

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. I just think ETA is a descent value - as long as youíre not paying over $1500-$2000 for an ETA-based watch.

It was, I had to wait until I found it in a Folger's coffee can for grand-dad to tell me about it. The German was quite well known - Albert Kesselring, and my grandfather never felt able to divulge all the details of how they met.

It was probably at Nuremberg, shortly before he was sentenced to death for war crimes during his 'uncompromising defense' during the Italian allied campaign. Albert was very lucky as it was commuted to life and he was released in '52. At least he had good taste in watches, Longines were a pretty high end brand back then.
