Yes I've heard the Alexx many times. I'm not "sure" they sound better than my x2's but it is very possible they would work better in my room and my dealer believes this too. One issue I prefer the older Wilson tweeters to the newer soft dome. Now that doesn't mean the XLF and now the Alexx aren't better speakers because it is hard to separate the sound of the tweeters from the other changes like crossover and other drivers. There are times I miss the sound of my 111f's. I understand that not everyone likes the MBL sound but it sounds like live performance to me. |

To my ears, the Wilson silk dome is very slightly laid back and less airy at the top than some diamond or metal domes but that's not necessarily a bad thing when listening to the typically treble boosted jazz or pop / rock recordings these days, and in any case it can be mostly managed by tailoring listening room treatments. The one quality of the silk dome that's attractive is that it sounds 'silky', and does so without sacrificing any transparency. Being able to listen for long periods without being fatigued by over-etched or razor sharp treble is definitely a desirable attribute.

Yvette in Ipanema Brown. Fantastic speakers for the money! Personally prefer the "new" Wilson sound over the "old".

Hello all! Yes, another "Newbe" to the site and first time owning Wilson . Building a new system, some equipment delivered, but nothing hooked up. I'm now a proud owner of Sabrina's in Galaxy Gray. Can't wait to hear them sing. Thanks.

Welcome Bradley and congrats on your new system. You'll have to give us a report once you have it broken in.

Maxx 3, Mezzo center, and Sophia's all in black. If I ever changed fronts it would be the XLF.
