Default Visiting Providence/Boston - Where to go?

My girlfriend will be interviewing for an obstetrics fellowship this Friday at Brown University and I will be joining her on the trip up. I will have Friday morning/early afternoon to myself to spend how I please and am looking for some suggestions on nearby audio dealers to visit. I'm thinking about checking out Goodwin's High End but am open to any suggestions.

We will be flying back to Asheville Sunday morning and are looking for ideas on how to spend Saturday. We haven't booked any places to stay yet aside from Thursday night before her interview so we're open to traveling within the area. A coworker of mine suggested visiting Salem for all the Halloween festivities, but again, I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

Default Goodwins

Goodwins is a good place to visit. Paul Chambers is the manager there. They tend to have a lot of British components (Linn, Naim), but you can listen to Luxman, Hegel, and DynAudio and Magico speakers as well. It is in a location they have had for many years; the immediate neighborhood is diverse (but totally safe - been there many times)

Salem is crazy busy this time of year. Fun, but a tourist trap near Halloween in my opinion. Check out the nearby Peabody Museum, head to Gloucester, or the seaport area of Boston. Providence isn't so bad either.

Default Visiting Providence/Boston - Where to go?

Old Sturbridge Village is about an hour drive, and well worth it if you’re interested in history. There’s also nothing like the Freedom Trail in Boston and seeing things like the Old North Church, Paul Revere’s house, and so on.

Eh, ever been to the Cape? Perhaps a stay in Falmouth? There is a certain Audio/Video Mecca nearby..

I haven't ever been to the Cape, but it looks like there's a rail trail where we could knock out an easy 20 mile run. Now we just have to find a place to crash for a night or two
