Question about panel thickness on first reflection

I was wondering, for first reflection points along the sides of the room, would you rather have 2" or 4" absorbers? I understand 4" absorbers absorb sound down to low to mid 100hz, is this ideal for side absorption?

What about behind the seat?

What about behind the speakers/front wall?

I figured start with bass traps along the corners. Just not sure about thickness of panel along the 4 walls.

I'll throw in an opinion.....I think that it is impossible for any person or computer to predict accurately what you are going to hear. You need to try them and decide which you prefer. No one said this was easy.

OK, how about this... what do most people use for first reflection absorption?

I went with 6 x 244s on the ceiling and side walls. They work very well. With hindsight, i would do 242s simply because I think that would have been 'enough' and more importantly, they would look better. The 244s are imposing in my room that is roughly 7 x 14 x 19.

Your room is very similar to mine. 14'8" x 17' x 9' ceiling.

I was thinking 3 panels up front, 2 panels on each side wall, 2 panels on rear, 2 clouds.

I have nothing behind my speakers since they are dipoles. I don't have a good pic handy but this one will show the 244s on the ceiling. Just to the right and left are 2 x 244s on the side walls and floor to ceiling Tritraps in each back corner. Edit - i found a pic which shows one of the sides.

I use 244's at the first reflection points (as well as on the front and rear walls) in my 29'9" x 14'4" x 7'9" living/dining room. I'm happy with what they bring to the listening table.

I tried 242 and 244 at first reflection point. I preferred the 244. I think if speakers are close to the wall, like mine are at about 2 feet, the 244 will have larger benefit. I agree that it would be hard to predict what is better and would depend and room and speakers.
