On SaCDs, I tend to prefer the sound of the physical medium over the DSD ripped versions but not so much that I often dig them out to play them. It is close enough that I am happy playing the DSD versions off the NAS.

Default Streaming,Schmeeming!IMO Cds rule!

I have ripped all my CDs and have not played a physical CD in a long time. When I stream them from my NAS, I upsample and convert the 16/44 PCM signals to 512DSD. To my ears, the streamed/upsampled/converted version of my CDs sound much better than the physical CDs.

A mix of streaming and physical media is the best way to go in my opinion.

Use streaming for more casual listening and review of new material. The sound quality is 98% as good as physical media and you gain a LOT of convenience.

Use physical media for more serious or scrutinized listening.

Operating this way, you can save your money for the best pressings or editions of your favorite recordings.

Agreed although the convenience of file playback makes the gap even greater.

.............. streaming from music service like Tital falls in to 3rd.
Yes but that may change in the future.

Perhaps not, but 2 bucks a pop at local thrift stores sure is!

Managed to find the last bricks and mortar HMV in London last week, who are careful now to kinda match amazon, and got the remastered Tusk album for £9, otherwise it's thrift. Radio 3 does a lot of Jazz upon the mid afternoon on Saturday, and I have a weekend of live Jazz in the summer. Don't need expensive subscriptions to Tidal etc, but if and when I retire and have the time maybe.

Developed by Pacific Microsonics, who were then bought by Microsoft, I believe.

Got a nice TT. Got a nice CDP. Got a nice streamer even. However, these days I find myself purchasing more HDCD, SACD, DVD-A, SHM, K2, XRCD etc than I ever had before.
Oddy enough the ones I'm enjoying the most SQ wise are your pretty "near basic Redbook" CD's from Inakustic's Reference Sound Edition. Things of beauty!
