Something very interesting from 2015...
Rebirth of a Nation, by DJ Spooky (Paul D. Miller), has been called a remix of D.W. Griffith's notorious and explicitly (if not avowedly) racist 1915 film The Birth of a Nation, applying the techniques of the electronic DJ to film instead of music. But it was also a musical score, and one of an unprecedented kind. You get both viewpoints on the work here: the album release includes two discs, one containing a complete version of DJ Spooky's remixed film, with the soundtrack recut and resynchronized to the film. Those who have seen Rebirth of a Nation in one of its many live realizations may wish to have this release for the sake of completeness. Release Date August 28, 2015 Duration01:19:17 Genre Avant-Garde Classical Styles Chamber Music Modern Composition |

of course but I have moved away from streaming simply for time. As it is I am buying more than a CD a day. It's so easy to discover new music in this day and age I had to move away from streaming.
It's a blessing and a curse living in such a information rich age with access to the world on your lap. |

Ed, streaming gives me some kind of rest. When I still bought all my music, I had the idea the investment had to yield profit, so I always felt I had to listen several times to the disc. Now, when a recording is not worth my further attention, I just let go.

The Collectors
Konstantyn Napolov - Eke Simons trptk label Not your average classical album. It is very experimental. Crazily well recorded, as we are used to with this label.

Schnittke - Vasks - Pärt - The Invisible Link
Maya Fridman & Daniël Kool trptk label The Schnittke is already quite something, the Vasks is an amazing solo work, and the Pärt (Fratres) was never more intensely performed (and better recorded) than on this album. Looking forward to download the 5.0 version in the future.
