This was album of the week at Presto Classical.
A special experience and not for every mood.
Streaming it via Qobuz 24/96.

Default What Classical Music Are You Listening To Tonight?

À Portuguesa: Iberian Concertos & Sonata
Orquestra Barroca Casa da Música Porto, Laurence Cummings principal conductor
Andreas Staier, harpsichord & direction
Harmonia Mundi (2018), 24/96 files

Here’s a fun collection of concertos and sonatas with an Iberian theme, very well recorded.

Default Geminiani: Concerti grossi

From the latest Presto haul...

Geminiani, F: Concerti grossi, Op. 7
Café Zimmerman

First listen: this is outstanding and I like the recorded sound.

Bach, J S: Partitas Nos. 1-6, BWV825-830
Menno van Delft (clavichord)

The recorded sound on this disc is so muffled and badly done that I cannot get past it. Avoid.

Ok, I needed an antidote for the bad recording above so I pulled out the Trevor Pinnock version. Ahhhh. Much better.

Bach, J S: Partitas Nos. 1-6, BWV825-830
Trevor Pinnock (harpsichord)

For the record, Janssen plays them on the piano.

No.32. Excellent playing and good sound. (It varies from decent to excellent since all are live performances in different venues.)
