Update - I have ordered the Bryston BDA 3.14. Thank you Ivan for your wise counsel and help!
I will use HDMI from Oppo to DAC for SACD, and Coax for CD. I'll either play the digital files on the separate hard drive through the Oppo (again through HDMI) or plug it directly into DAC via USB. Coax, HDMI, and power cord will all be Wireworld. Thanks to all for your input and suggestions. Now the waiting game... Dave

Coaxial digital
Your Oppo 103 has both coaxial and optical digital outputs. The Brooklyn Bridge has both coaxial and optical digital inputs.
The Brooklyn Bridge (BB) will also accept other inputs and can be used to stream digital audio from Tidal via Ethernet. In that case the music file will not pass through your computer\laptop\tablet etc. If you use the BB coaxial and optical digital inputs the audio from the Oppo will be converted to 2 channel. The Oppo can output 192 kHz PCM which is within the capability of the BB. I have been studying the BB. I have its little brother, a Brooklyn DAC+ and am looking to add streaming capability. Please ask more questions if you have them. It helps me to dig deeper and perhaps someone who knows more than me will jump in. Good luck!! |

Digital alien needs basic help with DAC
The Oppo can’t send DSD over coax or optical. So that’s why the Bryston works for the OP - it has HDMI inputs.
