I don't even ride; and think that is a pretty nice looking bike.

Gorgeous bike! My favorite is generally BMW but I have a soft spot in my heart for the Gold Wing!

I'll have to test ride one. I ride a 2014 BMW R1200RT that I find comfortable and agile at the same time. The 'wing is the epitome of luxo touring that I envision going to when I'm a bit older.

Bob, that is a nice looking Goldwing. It actually looks like, after all these years, they may have finally made the windscreen powered! Dash looks nice. Handlebars look real busy, though. Be sure to check out (and test ride!) the BMW K1600, I absolutely love mine. I had a K12RS, then a GS12 before the K16. The K16 handles every bit as good as the K12, but is so much more comfortable and easier to use. Looks like the Honda and the BMW are about the same, price-wise.

The Goldwing is going on 43 years -- that's hard to recollect -- I can recall when the first year of release in the USA (even though I was overseas).

The Honda Goldwing motorcycle first saw the light of day at the Cologne Motorcycle Show in October 1974, as the flat-four cylinder, 999cc GL1000 Gold Wing and was released to the world for the 1975 model year.

The 2018's will sell like hotcakes at a Saturday volunteer breakfast.

Best Sirs,

Bob

Yep and I remember riding the first gen Goldwing and forgetting to put the kickstand up. That was fun in the first turn... not. Saved it somehow...
This was before the industry adapted the kickstand safety switch.

Been there, done that & have that (safety feature for those times the mind lapses). Not fun and a 'WTF, HELP & Pray moment -- all 3 jumbling for answers in milliseconds. The slower response by couple microseconds is the when the behind tightens too.

M/C's have come a long way since my first one in 1966.

Best Sir,

Boib

I'm also glad M/C's have standardized controls. I was 16 and wiped out on a really rare, small Harley model from the 60's I believe. The controls were opposite of what I was used to on more modern bikes. Fortunately I didn't get hurt bad but the bike suffered some. It was mint... The owner was p#ssed!

It certainly took Honda a loooooooong time to update the Goldwing. If memory serves, the current gen debuted back in 2002. Honda has been focusing on entry level bikes to get more young riders into the scene to preserve what looks like a shrinking market with millennials not taking to motorized two wheels as much. Anyway, in reading about the update the only things that make me question is the reduction in fuel tank and luggage capacity. I've done a coast-to-coast tour and you want as much range as possible when gas stations are 50 miles apart in places like Wyoming and Montana. And on multi-week trips, you want as much carrying capacitiy as possible.

Other than that, the new 'wing looks sharp!

Ever since the cops stopped chasing motorcycles in most cities, the youth rides illegally. What 16-25 year old can afford to pay insurance for a sport bike when one can ride illegally on a dirt bike and raise hell all over the city.
