Cool. What kind of speakers do you have? It would be cool with some pictures of your system.

300B Golden Dragon Mesh Plate (I really like them: I use them also on the 300B SE/PP. They have a signature of transparent, dynamic and modern tube sound. Yet, they are still 300B with all the midrange magic and bloom we crave)

6SL7 NOS Brimar (I use them also on the 300B SE/PP. I have not yet compared them systematically with the others I have tried, but they seem to give a little more of the organic bloomy "butterly" sound but still not being slow.)

5AR4 Golden Dragon

OD3 NOS RCA

I would love to test some 300B EML Mesh Plate and 300B Takatsuki. What are your experience with tubes on the preamp Jerome?
I did not fin the Golden Dragon tubes but since Ken Shindo ( MHRP) trusted the Gold Lion for his D'Yquem amps, I followed this route and I'm so glad I did. I received them yesterday : listened only with my HD800 headphones but this output stage is so revealing that you can hear the most tiny changes.
WOW ! What a difference they make compared to the stock Electro Harmonix tubes ! Much more details while keeping the bloom and sweetness. The image is also much wider. I love them.
Makes me think that the Electro Harmonix were really not at the level of the preamp and I wonder now about the quality of my 7591 tubes in the 225. Time to shop for NOS tubes in this one probably....

Some great Manley systems here.

Magoo, how do you like your Chinook, compared to other phono preamps you've had thus far?

Default This is much better!

Very nice looking set up! Although it seems like a shame to hide those amps behind closed doors.

That's Wasatch with the Chinook, I use a Whest Audio PS.30RDT, solid state, but a good one imho. If Manley ever decide a genuine pre with phono stage is a goer, I'm in thou

Thanks McPlaner. You know: kids, wife and modern lifestyle - closed door it is! However, I like it in some ways. Priceless the faces when I open the doors :-)

Wouldn't the Steelhead tick all those boxes for you?

The Neo Classic 300B is a gorgeous sounding preamp. After I purchased my Shrimp, I sold all my other preamps.
