Amps and pre/pros were purchased brand new not even a month ago, MC8207, MC426 and C52 and Marantz AV8805.
I also have a problem with the MC462 has loose parts that should not be loose but that's another topic or matter. I am beyond frustrated, don't know if it can get any worse for me at this time. All brand new from an authorized Mac dealer. |

Return every unit you are not happy with to the dealer for an exchange. |

Exactly. Right from your initial description, it sounded like bad Transformers. Don’t settle. |

Do not want to assume anything, is the issue still occurring? Any EMI as a possibility from any other gear or parallel cables? Any Tube Buffers? All cables and interconnects solid with connections and common ground? |

Just take the two amps back to the dealer get a refund and move on and if he is the one that talked you into buying the $4000 plus Niagra then take that back too. There are other dealers and other amps.

I had a similar issue with my first MC205 - dealer replaced it and no hum from the second unit. I subsequently visited the McIntosh factory for a tour and mentioned this to them and was told that sometimes transformer hum would occur but it should not be audible from a distance. I’d say it’s a transformer issue and the dealer should replace, but test before he releases the unit, or offer a full refund.

Just to clarify for some of you, only the amp is connected to the power and nothing else, nothing else to the amp either, nothing interferes as far as cable, speakers, pre/pros etc.
I had two electricians come to the house to make sure everything works smooth, after the first electrician I was told that maybe he did not do a good job so I called in a second one to which he replied that the first did everything correct and he was beyond belief that I was doing all this things. I am tired to be told that I need to do things to make this amp's transformer quite, I should've just plug everything in and enjoy my new equipment that I have worked my arse off to save. I will be taking both units tomorrow to the dealer and will discuss what my options are if nothing else I get my refund and be done with it. |

Try plugging the power cord into a 3 to 2 prong adapter that eliminates the ground prong and see if it get rid of the buzz . It worked on my old but steady Mc58 no buzzing.

MC8207 Transformer Buzzing
Occam‘s razor… The simplest explanation is usually the correct explanation. Two different units doing the same thing at two completely different locations adds up to bad transformers. If it’s repeatable at the dealer, he should be replacing it yet again
