How would you compare the Modwright sound to that of your Mac setup? Interested in the same integrated to upgrade from my current 2105/C28 setup.

Actually, rather similar in presentation. The ModWright has a warm yet detailed sound with very good bass. It is an excellent amp.

Just hooked up my new PL HP integrated with KT120's and the stock EL34's. The KT 120s are more balanced, so I will likely keep them in.

Even brand new and not broken in, the sound is very good. If this is the worst this amp will sound, I can't wait to hear it at its best!

Kevin.......Congratulation on your new PrimaLuna HP integrated amplifier. When I reviewed the PrimaLuna ProLogue Premium Integrated Amplifier in August of 2013, the amplifier took about 200 hours to reach its permanent voice, and a lovely voice it was. PrimaLuna makes very good tube amplifiers. Looking forward to reading your impressions of the HP once it has some hours on it.

If you haven't already, read my http://www.audioaficionado.org/pre-a...er-review.html here.

Thanks, Dan. Good review, by the way.

I was warned about the long break-in period of this amp, so I will try to keep my assessments measured for now. At least the first impressions are good.

Congrats on the new IA. PrimaLuna makes some pretty nice gear. Enjoy!

I left it playing all weekend and most of today. It is starting to sound a little smoother and more coherent. Once I get 200-300 hours on it, I'll likely splurge for a pair of Brimar 12AU7's. No hurry, though, as the sound with the stock tubes is not at all bad.

Any updates? I am breaking mine in and feel that the bass is not very detailed.

Sounding great with KT120's and Brimar 12AU7's. The KT120's made a huge difference in the bass. Much more detailed, deep and punchy. I may break down and get a set of KT150's to see what they can do.

Pardon my jumping in but I'm a bit confused. I have a PL Dialogue Premium (not the HP model, it's hot enough in Miami as it is) with KT120s. Both Dialogue Premiums have 6- 12AU7s but you mentioned splurging for "a pair". Are you planning to just change out one tube (out of 3) per channel? Am I missing something?
