Thank you for the welcome and replies! I have Harbeth SHL5 pluses. I believe that they are 6 ohm? I was using a Primaluna Dialogue Premium preamp for the Pass. Everything is stock. The HP only has about 35 hours on it, the other components are broken in.

TSWisla.......My guess is the solid state XA30.8 is able to deliver more instantaneous current quicker than the tubes in the DiaLogue HP. The Pass amplifier is Class A and can deliver 20 amps. I was unable to find the current capability of the DiaLogue HP. I assume the DiaLogue HP is using KT120 tubes. Make sure you are operating the DiaLogue HP in the Ultra-linear mode, not in the Triode mode. There is a substantial power difference between the two operating modes. There is an LED on the front panel that glows red when the amplifier is in Ultra-linear mode, and glows green when in Triode mode. The Dialogue HP always starts in Ultra-linear mode so you should not have to do anything on the remote control to have the amp outputting its highest power.
Let me know what tubes are in the Dialogue HP.

Thank you again. It is using EL34 tubes. I am definitely using it in ultralinear mode (red). I am surprised because in searching the internet I found several people (including Tocatta from here) who switched from Pass amps to PL (though probably not from class A Pass amps). The PL sounds great, but the Pass adds more low end power in addition to beautiful midrange and beautiful highs. I am wondering if what I am not hearing is due to the amp itself or perhaps the PL needs more break in? Like I said, I just want to make the right decision here. At times I think that I am crazy for even considering a PL over a Pass, am I?

TSWisla.......The EL34 tubes in the PrimaLuna DiaLogue HP are good for 70 watts per channel. Similarly the McIntosh MC275 with KT88 tubes is 75 watts per channel. I have heard the MC275 compared to several other solid state power amplifiers, and the solid state amps always controlled the bottom end better at any volume, including low volume. It just may be that the solid state XA30.8 is able to deliver current more efficiently than the tube integrated amp.
The most important advice I can offer is to trust your own ears.
