Are subwoofers really needed for music with G2? Do you have any particular subwoofer(s) in mind?

Bart - nice speakers! I believe Vivid's products are where B&W should have taken their 800 series after they launched Nautilus. Of course the Nautilus designer works for Vivid, so my statement is pretty obvious in many ways.

Vivid is on my list of companies that to me represent unique and creative approaches to solving engineering challenges. Vivid (reducing cabinet resonance), Vandersteen (time coherence), Zu (sonic coherence), Magnepan (sonic coherence/tonal consistency), and KEF (time coherence via Uni-Q) are the speaker companies that have my highest respect. Their products are reasonable in cost for the high performance and unique character they offer.

Nebob...I used a JLF112 with Vivid K1's, and it made a huge difference. I filled the bass in below 38hz with the K1's and I was astonished at the overall improvement. Generally, a quality sub should take over at the -3db point.

Somehow I missed your question.
My answer today is: no.
I listen to orchestral and organ music and I don't think I miss much.
I can clearly hear notes down to 20-22 Hz.
Even in multi-channel, I really like the 5.0 set-up I have now.
I think I'll just add a sub (or 2) for movies.

Yong, thanks for the compliment!
I would like to hear Vandersteen, but they're not demonstrated here often...

I would not say needed, but when I introduced REL G2 in my system and room, they added a huge improvement in the overall sound. The REL's are very musical and when connected to the amplifier speakerterminals they integrates superbly with my Vivid G2. Highly recommended.

BR,
Sven

Lovely room Sven.
Those RELs look nice.
You write that you connect them with the speaker terminals. Is that together with the speaker cables to your G2s? Can you elaborate please?
