Default The Delicious One – Reviews are in

Fellow Aficionados,

Please forgive me because I am about to brag a little. I've been thinking and working very hard on this project for months, and now I am like one of those annoying proud parents bragging about their children. I hope you will allow me this indulgence.

Over the past two weeks, a few units of The Delicious One Audio Aficionado Limited Editions have reached their destination in the homes and systems of some of our audio friends.

Not everyone has had a chance to install it and properly test it yet, but a handful of AA members have been kind enough to send me their feedback (and some even photos of their Delicious One in action.

I am pleased to say that, so far, the reviews are unanimously positive (phew!).

Below are some selected quotes from either emails or posts talking about The Delicious One AA Edition. First comments on what it does sonically, then about the build quality.

SONIC ATTRIBUTES
  • It’s not just delicious, it’s scrumptious.

  • The more resolving and detailed your system is, the more you need The Delicious One for poorly recorded source material.

  • The Delicious One is completely transparent when in bypass ... It is dead quiet as well.

  • By making adjustments to the big knob on The Delicious One it is easy to fine tune the sound and calm an otherwise bright recording.

  • The Delicious One improved my enjoyment of [harsh/thin/fatiguing recordings] immensely.

  • A wonderful external tone control that definitely has a place in a high-end system to enhance low volume listening enjoyment.

  • Once you have The Delicious One installed in your system you will quickly realize its benefits.

  • This premium quality external tone shaping tool will provide me with many hours of improved listening pleasure when I need to tweak a less than perfect recording or when I am listening at low levels and want loudness compensation added.

  • Tone shaping doesn’t get any simpler. The Delicious One is a keeper.

  • With The Delicious One, my preamp options have opened up.

  • The Delicious One is a very cool addition to any sound system, especially those without tone controls.

  • Installed The Delicious One in one of my systems today… LOVE IT!!! Quality. Design. Beautiful Sound…. Delicious…

  • In my system I prefer The Delicious One to built-in tone controls for some recordings.

BUILD QUALITY

  • It is remarkably well made, surprisingly heavy, and really feels like a quality component.

  • The Delicious one is built to impress.

  • A great product and first-rate communication throughout every step in the process.

  • The physical design is unique in size, weight, and control function.

  • My impression of the physical shape and size is very positive.

  • The quality of the input and output RCA connectors is excellent.

  • The Delicious One is a carefully hand crafted audio component built using high quality parts.

  • You sense the quality and pride it was built with the moment you lift it. It is heavy for its size and solid as a brick.

  • The big knob control operates as smooth as silk.

You can see some of the initial reviews in full (and a few photos from users) at: Reviews - Delicious Decibels

[I've asked reviewers/commenters permission to share their email feedback along with their first name and first letter of the last name. But if you are not OK with it please let me know.]

A BIG thanks to all AA subscribers gutsy enough to trust me at this very early stage of development to place an order. A special thanks to JDandy for his invaluable feedback on an earlier version and, of course, to our host Ivan for making this very successful launch possible.

Alberto

PS I now need to start thinking about scaling up production, but in the meantime I am still offering a hand-made, point-to-point wired, custom built and tested by yours truly Limited Edition available in limited quantities.

Nothing wrong with being a proud parent Alberto. Congratulations on your successful first outing of the Delicious One!

Alberto.......I was just enjoying my Delicious One last night in the studio system. I was sitting on my big comfy couch reading AA on my iPad and had the sound system volume turned low. I was enjoying one of the playlists on my Olive 04HD music server. I dialed in the Delicious One just enough to enhance the low frequency area. This allowed me to flesh out the bass and round out the presentation very well. I couldn't be happier with the Delicious One. It works like a charm.

Alberto - sounds like you have a winner. You have every right to brag about it. Congratulations on your early success. I'll keep following the developments of the Delicious One - a great name by the way.

Thank you Carlos. I am a big fan of products whose name "says what it does, does what it says" :-).

Alberto,

Been reading about the Delicious One -what a name btw-, enjoyed myself very much with the visit by the latest fellow member (plus Greg!) to attain one and definitely have to congratulate you on this.

Pity that (from what I've gathered) at this point the Delicious One can only be shipped within US / Canada though. What is your background btw -sound Spanish indeed but where are you originally from exactly? Just wonder whether you come to Argentina at all, or anywhere in Latin America for that matter as I travel a lot and would like to get my hands on a signature unit at some point.

Unfortunately electronics (of any kind to be honest) are a nightmare to export to Argentina these days, basically due to corruption and the government's new import restrictions -the Delicious would never reach our shores or it'd cost a fortune or end up in some robber's tacky house with his Sony Muteki 5.1 components So I just thought, if you were ever around or on vacations somewhere in LatAm I might be able to pick it up myself and get back home with it.

Anyway compliments once again on the design -looks awesome I'd like to check how it sounds too.

Cheers
Fernando

Hi Fernando,

Thank you for your message.

I am originally from Italy, but I live in California.

I can deeply sympathize with the export situation. I'd love to have The Delicious One all over the world but with electronics it's very difficult without a dedicated importer.

If things continue to go well in the US, however, I will definitely work on exporting it.

Alberto

Ciao Alberto,

Tante grazie dalla tua risposta e scusi se il mio italiano e troppo brutto. Sono argentino ma con passaporte italiano, il mio papa' e stato nato a Pesaro (Marche)

Thanks for this mate and will look for the way to get my hands on a Delicious One, maybe next time I've got a staff meeting or something (my bosses are Boston residents).

Ti ringrazio
Fernando

I still continue to use and love my Delicious One. Rush 2112 added a bit more fullness and weight to it that I thought it needed. Even the re-master of Billy Joel 52nd street some of the songs needed a little weight, or bass added to it and the Delicious One helps quite a bit. Late night listening isn't leaving me wanting to turn it up to "sound right".

I still am digging this unit!
