Default Seeking Opinions: C70 to a C2700?

I have a C70 and I'm considering changing to a C2700 just for the REC OUT fixed output. I'd like to pick up a JCorder R2R and the C70 doesn't have a fixed level output for recording. I have a DAC so the DA2 module isn't important to me. I suspect both units would sound nearly identical, just not sure if the C70, being an anniversary model, would be worth something someday. My amp is a 275v6.

Thanks for any feedback.

I have a C47 which has a fixed output and the volume level on the fixed output is too low to be useful. I like the idea of a fixed output and I don't know why they didn't include one on the c22 but in my case I ended up using one of the balanced outputs instead.

I connected my c47 to my RME ADI-2 Pro Fs R BE and I found that the output from the fixed output wasn't enough to drive my amp to full volume even with the RME at full. With the balanced output if I set the c47 to 90% 0db on the RME equals 0db on my MC302 meters and I believe power guard comes on around +2 - +2.5 db.

I'm actually thinking about trading my C47 for a C22 or one of the new C8s. Initially the lack of a fixed output bugged me as well but since it's only 450mv it isn't super useful. If they made it a 2v output it would be awesome.

That's interesting, I hadn't considered the output level might not be useable. I assumed there was an industry standard manufacturers followed. Something else to keep in mind I guess.

My brother has the C2700 with the MC275 mk6. He loves the combo and raves about it. Obviously more connectivity on the C2700.

I'd expect valuation of the C70 to hold up pretty well. At least until the C75 is released.

If you're committed to a tape deck then the answer becomes a bit more self evident.

What JCorder BTW?

It seems most McIntosh equipment hold their value pretty well.
Just didn't want to do something foolish if anniversary models increase in value over time. I haven't seen evidence of that though.

Jeff, does some great work with Technics R2Rs

Yep. I met him at RMAF 2 years ago. The decks he had brought to the show were reely beautiful works. Hope you get what you're looking for. Post some pics in the Tape Machine forum.

Oops, I see now you were asking what model, not what is jcorder.

One of 15xx big boys, don't have the details sorted out nor the funds at the moment.

I first need to get a preamp that has a fixed output.
