The input tube, 6SL7 or 6SN7, will make more of a difference than a different power tube. See first sentence and repeat. You are getting a fine amp and, all kidding aside, it deserves an Inspire preamp. Try the 6SN7 & 6SL7 in the Shiit and report back. |

I saw that on USA Audiomart. The package the seller offering is a good deal.
That amp is like the first Inspire Dennis sold me, except mine is a triode wired SEP. |

There is a post here from Bearcity about the new pre, but I can't find it. He said it will be called CJ5. Ask Dennis about it. I did check out the tubes it uses when I saw the posts and they are not expensive.

New Fire-Bottle has arrived!
The amp arrived today. Now to get it up and running
One quick question. Dennis sent two rectifier tubes, a 5AR4 and a 5u4 along with two input tubes, a 6SL7 and 6SN7. Since I'll be using a passive pre for a while he thought the 6SL7 will give a bit more gain. Which rectifier/input tube combo should I use? I'm going to message him and see if he has the "tube rolling" reference sheet for this amp done so he can send me a copy. Thanks for the help! |
