DAC8 sample rate hunting?
My DAC8 is acting up... it is not able to lock onto the incoming files' sample rate. JRiver reports "something went wrong with playback" and if it does start to play, on some occasions it will stop playing and start seeking a sample rate.
Anyone else experience anything like this? |

Do you have another source you could connect to one of the DAC8's other digital inputs such as SPDIF? Does that work?

Sounds like a configuration/software issue.

Try Audirvana or Pure Music if you use MacOSX or you could try Daphile for WinOS. I'm sure DAC8 is not related to your problem.

Thanks guys... having spent many years in the tech world, I first thought it was a software/configuration issue as well. But... nothing has changed with the small dedicated music server I built a couple years back. Everything was working fine, then started to have problems. When my dealer was here a couple weeks back to WASP the Alexias, we had this problem. He'd experienced loose connections inside other DAC8 units, so suggested we remove the cover. We found the connection to the pcb, where the board is labeled with different sample rates, was loose. Securing the connection seemed to resolve the issue, but then the other day it returned. I was able, by way of the control panel, to set the sample rate for a high res file and get it to play. Switching back to 44.1 directly by changing songs—the error appears. Trying to manually change the sample rate, error repeats.
I was just curious if anyone had anything similar. I sent the DAC to ARC to be inspected/repaired. |
