It powers the laptop brick. An NR 10 powers the Teac DAC.

Right, I remember now. Thanks, Jim.

Everything matters.

Funny how that works.

I'd made no changes or even minor adjustments to the system, the room, its treatment, or my nearfield listening position. But suddenly there was more spatial bloom in the overall sonic presentation...and, with it, more palpable "body" emanating from voice and instruments.

I put on Leonard Bernstein's reading of the last part of Hector Berlioz' "Symphonie Fantastique" (Sony 16/44 rip), beginning at the "March to the Scaffold", and the New York Phil's frequent invocations of the "Dies Irae" from that point on damned near scared hell out of me. I chalk the "fright" up to expanded dynamic contrasts, sharper transient attack, more touchy-feelly imaging, and a sense of increased liberation of the musical program from both speaker and wall boundaries.

That wasn't a one-off. On went an exquisitely-engineered 24/192 download of Sir Adrian Boult conducting Gustav Holst's "Fugal Overture" (Lyrita), and the opening passages triggered a Heather O'Rourke "they're HERE" moment more potently in my face than the already impressive auditions I'd had earlier with the same track some time after the Digital 14's arrival here.

And it's been that way since, with virtually every rip or download I've fed to the bedroom system. At some point I have to build a new equipment rack to reduce clutter and tidy up the place. But I'm in no hurry. It's not that I'm lazy. I'm just afraid that if I touch anything...
Thanks for posting this Jim. I also was concerned with the treble presentation of the new Venom Digital cords I acquired, especially with my redbook CD rips. These are the first 14G upgrade power cords I've tried. Usually they start at 12G when you're looking at $200+. I swapped these for older Shunyata cords into my HTPCs. One is an Acer mini tower with Intel Core i3, the other is a Dell Inspiron with Intel Core i5. I started steaming Ayre's full glide tone track using the repeat function on JRiver. Treble is calming down, I need to give it more time. Like anything audiophile or high end I've bought new, burn-in time applies. I also picked up a couple of Venom V12 NR cords for my flat screen TVs. Those performed as expected. I anticipate they will also improve with use. I decided to try these new Shunyata NR technology cords. I became a believer when I tried the then new Delta NR cords for my DACs. The DACs performance improved significantly.

Yes, I've found settling time to matter listening-wise with each of the Venom and Delta power cords I've acquired over the last several months, including the Delta NR now feeding the DAC in the bedroom system (the Venom 10NR previously there has moved to the living-room system's line stage, with equally satisfying results).
