Great comparison, Number. A bit off topic but what model of the Amati was used in the previous comparison?

I thought Fine Sounds was pretty hands off? No? We are seeing lots of new products from McIntosh coming out now....and perhaps more to follow shortly.

C'mon McIntosh, bring it on. I'm liking the new stuff.

I just know that the quicker they release new products, the more they devalue the current/previous products. I think long product life cycles are one of the reasons why Mc products hold their resale value so well. There are other reasons, but that's one of them for sure.

Anyway....I'm still eyeing a pair of REF 250's....but that AA member who had problems with his 250's has scared me a bit. Do you think there is cause for concern?
McIntosh, (for the most part) has a different following than ARC!

My REF 40 is now over 5000 hours and the plexiglass covers are still flat and look great. I have about 2" space between the power supply cover and the shelf above it, although it is an open rack (Finite Elements). If the cover was well worn out I would have a reason to upgrade to the REF 10!

ARC has no problem replacing any plexiglass cover if they get damage by heat. Any dealer can easily get a replacement.
