I just received my 103 today. I dont listen to SACD's and at most, a movie every week or two, I didn't see the value in double the price since I wasn't going to use the USB DAC either.

First-gen USB/DAC doesn't really excite me either.

You are just speculating, I guess? In jest?

I haven't seen any new release information. And to be fair, I think the Oppo has been around for almost a year which is about right for most CE gear.

FWIW, I don't think the Oppo 95's DACs are worth adding a USB/SPDIF input to in its current form. Maybe the Modwright version of the 105 (when it comes) might have more appeal.

I don't need the 4k resolution so am gonna opt out of this cycle

--- Derek, as time goes by, please let us know your impressions (visual and auditory). Thx

---- I guess you can call it 'speculation' indeed. But it is a fair and solid guess IMO.

And of course not; there are no info.

_______________

It is interesting the various utilisations that people can benefit from all those Oppo Universal players.
Indeed, there are no 'universal' solutions for us all; we take only what we truly need (do and listen and view), and from that we make our choice.

- Some BD players you can get for below hundred bucks.
The 103 for five hundred bucks.
The 105 for twelve hundred bucks.
Others for five thousand bucks (McIntosh for example).
And then some for ten thousand bucks (Ayre Acoustics), or even more.

Some are great for just few peanuts; the Panasonic DMP-BDT220 (or 320),
the Sony BDP-S790,
and then you have also last year's models; Oppo BDP-93 and 95.
...Plus two years ago models, the Oppo BDP-83, and 83SE, and 83NuForce.

Nice to have choices.

* Here's a review on the 103 => Oppo BDP-103 Blu-ray 3D Player | Home Theater that just came in yesterday.

And some more from this link => OPPO BD UK

-- Nope, but I do get access to the very first batch in Canada. ...Regarding the 103, or/and 105.

Here's my impression of the BDP-103. Firmware update fails every time, tried it 10 times over wireless. So far not good :/

---- Ok Derek, please tell us on how you did proceed. ...Ops, "wireless".

Try "wired" instead.

No wired network unfortunately. I'll have to put it on a USB stick. Just annoying out of the box. Nice packaging though
