88.7 is a regular on my tuning schedule. I can't recall if I've listened to 89.3 much, it seems there is always good stuff on that band.

Maks, what do think of the HD Radio caability of the MR88? do you run the digital oututs to a DAC?

i didn't realize the MR88 had that capability until Dan mentioned it on another thread. I've thought about picking up an MR78 from time to time but the MR88 is a bit more contemporary.

I think HD sounds great on the MR88, I like the sub channels as well. I heard from Ron C at Mac that the output of the tuner chip is analog, so using the balanced connections is the "best". If you use the digital outs, you're going through another A->D conversion before you output the signal, but as with anything in this hobby, let your ears be the judge.

I have another post here comparing to my MR74, I feel there are pluses and minuses to both tuners. From what I gather, the MR78 is great for DXing, but the quality is compromised compared to an MR77 or MR74. For me, the MR88 pulls in the fringe college station I like better than the MR74 and has XM radio, so it's in my system. If I listened to just local, strong stations, I'd probably have stuck with my MR74. Both are great tuners.
