This is absolutely on the money. There simply is nothing for video (unless it features a liner power supply for the digital section - and I haven't seen an LPS for a blu ray player other than the now out of production Ayre $10K player) that's going to compete with a Oppo 203 with a LPS.

I've also gotten the ZeroZone digital only LPS (~$200 all in) and it's been a spectacular improvement for both video and digital audio outputs - because of not only the LPS itself but removing the noisy analog board output from the equation (it's no longer powered). If you want some additional performance, you can also replace the IEC and internal power wiring as suggested below (ZeroZone makes those products as well - I found they made a noticeable difference but it was nowhere near the impact of the LPS and for the price didn't really make sense unless you're looking to eek out that last bit of performance), but it's the LPS that's the real star of the show.

I'm not a tech at all.
Is this doable for dummies?
Websites tell it's plug and play, but even that scares me...

If you know how to use a screwdriver you have 100% of the skills needed to swap in an LPS

Here's a video showing how easy it is:

Here's mine completely kitted out:

I am curious why there is such a price disparity between the Zerozone linear power supply ($130.00) for the Oppo UDP-203 and the OppoMod linear power supply ($280.00) for the Oppo UDP-203. Is the OppoMod LPS really worth more than twice the Zerozone LPS?

I couldn't figure it out, but then again that same outfit wants $270 for a piece of aluminum and new spindle for the transport so it's not like they're too concerned about competing on price. I'm guessing we're getting the benefit of buying direct from the source with ZeroZone (located in mainland China) as opposed to getting another round of markup with OppoMod (located in Korea).

Wouldn’t McIntosh be coming out with a player soon based on the OPPO platform?

Hi Dan, I think part of it it's the component selection. It is a bit hard to tell
on the ZeroZone PS, but the Oppomod PS does have more quality
components.

Another important aspect is that there is concern with heat with the
OppoMod that I have read elsewhere, and recently Toga pointed out that
the ZeroZone doesn't suffer from it. Interesting.
