Default 802 diamonds are incoming....

So, I finally decided... 802 diamonds are coming. This will be a way for me to test out my system and my room. If the 802 diamonds are as good as I think they are capable of sounding in my room, then one of 3 things will happen.

1. I will keep them in the stereo room and just go with it.
2. I will move them to the living room or game room and buy a pair of 800 diamonds.
3. I will keep them and also buy a pair of SF Stradivaris.

Either way, this is a great start to the system... didn't want to jump head first into a pair of nonrefundable 800 diamonds for my room. Found a solid deal on a pair of 802 diamonds so I could not say no.

Wish me luck that the transaction and the shipment goes well. They will be coming next week I presume.

Once I added the MEN220 to handle the crossovers I find it very effective. I crossover at 50hz but could go a bit lower. The DB1 does have a preset to match the 802s but it is not a crossover. If I were to purchase again I would consider the JL Audio F113. I have two F112s with the 803s in the theater room and like the setup.

DId you ever consider the 800 diamonds instead of mating a sub to the 802?

Not really as the 802s fit the room better and there was not an opportunity to audition the 800s. I compared the 802s to SF speakers of similar price point (do not recall which) and at the time the 802s just suited us better on the MC601s. In the future I will likely choose SF with either a JL Audio or REL sub to get a different flavor but that is not in the near term.

Joey.... Congratulations! The B&W 802 Diamond is one of the best buys in audio in my opinion. Smaller companies would charge a fortune for a similar speaker with the level of research and refinement that B&W puts into them. I hope they bring you a lot of listening pleasure.

Congrats. I listen to mine every day and couldn't be happier. Agree with the comment re bang for one's buck. Compared them to multiple speakers at 2 or 3x the price and decided to save the $$$ and just enjoy them. They're beasts though - have someone to help you wrangle them.
