Mine either. But I would purchase again if I was looking. Really enjoyed them.

Currently own a Parasound JC2 & am VERY happy with it.
Years ago I was steered away from the likes of Krell & Levinson to a Parasound HCA 2200II by one of the principals of Genesis Advanced Technologies, when I had a pair of their loudspeakers. Was VERY happy with the results of taking that advice, both from HUGE cost savings and from awesome sound performance. Yeah, I have a lot of respect for Parasound, and some of their products are fantastic, no matter the budget. |

I have to agree with the multiple positive comments. I have a Parasound A31 in my system to drive the rears and center channel in my 5.1 system. Occasionaly, I'll switch out my MC452 with the A31 to drive the mains. It compares very well with the McIintosh with the former bright and punchy and the latter bigger but not bloated. I have huge respect for Parasound.

Due to space limitations in my audio rack I purchased the Parasound JC5 amplifier. I am very pleased with this amp. I had the McIntosh MC302/312 in mind but it was just a little too big in height.

After spending quite a bit of money on different systems I decided to purchase what I thought was a reasonable system that still met certain standards. My severe loss of hearing resulted in the use of hearing aids that kind of makes listening to music less than what it use to be .
What I purchased Parasound JC1's JC2 BP JC 3+ Oppo 205 Clearudio Performance DC/Satisfy Carbon/Hana Monitor Audio PL300 II Bunch of Audiquest wire/power cords, and Niagra 5000. When it comes to Parasound the "Halo" products have been on bunch of "A" lists for a long time. The amps (JC1's) have been used at numerous shows powering all types of speakers. I could have gone with McIntosh again but I wanted a change, It was a good change.

Parasound makes fantastic gear, and if I were starting over with a reasonable budget, I would absolutely love to rock some JC1's! In fact I have thought about it for a backup... My audio research amp is out for repairs right now! [emoji24] Congratulations on a fine new system! |

Chad,
I have no desire to go back to McIntosh, nor do I have a desire to purchase the JC1+. That doesn't say anything about the sound comparison, but you do know I've had a lot of McIntosh gear and if I thought it sounded better I'd own it. For an average size room the PL300II really work well. So PL500's would be overkill for me right now. And to be honest, hearing loss, hearing aids, not much enjoyment anymore.

Having owned Parasound JC 1 & 2, I never understood why either were Stereophile A rated components year after year. While they aren't bad products, I certainly would not rate them in the A category. To me they were kind of sterile, & not real musical. I played them for a while and after replacing them really realized that they just were OK. C, maybe B at best, no where near what I would classify as the best in their class.
