Fantastic recording from the Turtle Records label.
Nice chamber works from the Belgian composer.

Default Corelli: Chamber Sonatas

This morning I'm feeling sick from a cold but these beautiful sounds ease my pain

I know this recording is old hat in this thread, but I just really enjoy listening to it because the performance and sound are superb. Not sure why, but this SACD sounds particularly excellent through my system tonight (the system was off for a couple of days while I went to a wedding ).

I looked at this but never pulled the trigger - guess I'll have to now.

Default Tchaikovsky: Symphonies No. 1 & No. 2

Something appropriate for a cold winter morning...

Tchaikovsky:
Symphony No. 1 in G minor, Op. 13 'Winter Daydreams'
Symphony No. 2 in C minor, Op. 17 'Little Russian'
Andrew Litton, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

I've had this disc in my collection for two decades. These compositions are early efforts by Tchaikovsky so you will not find many memorable melodies like in symphonies 4-6, but there is genius there. Plus sometimes it's nice to take a break from all the well-known pieces to hear less familiar music. The Bournemouth Symphony plays well here and the recorded sound is set back in a concert hall acoustic. Not bad.
