Going through break-in on my second Ref5se, I simply have not experienced ANY of these awful periods some are describing, but I do have a theory on the issue. Is it possible that the increased resolution being heard, this microscope on the recording quality, is being confused as a preamp issue when it is really just revealing a poor recording? The 5se is very revealing as to rolled off highs, flat soundstage, etc... It is likely that when you hear a recording on the 5se you may be hearing it for the first time with such scrutiny as the 5se can provide.
Just a thought... That said, I find the 5se allows most recordings to be both revealing, yet sound quite good and pleasing. That is one of it's strong suits, in my opinion. |

hi guitardave
i use the same few songs throughout the break in cycle and i hear that on those songs the sound quality changes as it goes to the cycle. But all means its not offensive at all just that sometimes its great and sometimes it so so... just have to be patient |
