Roger,

Thank you so much for your detail feedback as I was just looking for a suggestion for my newly joined family member,Esoteric K-03. As I have no experience with USB in audiophiling I was contemplating which one to get. 3 of my finalists are

1. Cardas Clear
2. WW Starlight
3. WW Silver Starlight

Have you had a chance to A/B the Starlight and the Silver Starlight? I wonder how much Silver Starlight can make a difference over the Starlight.

So far, I have listened/watched computer files of Bizet's Carmen with Zubin Mehta and Nuria Espert as Carmen and the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Live in Japan. Both sound WONDERFUL--life-like, natural sound timbres, high resolution, sound stage, and dynamics without adding any harshness with this cable.

For example in Carmen massed chorus scenes, large groups of singers are resolved clearly and cleanly without strain. Outstanding soundstage and tone is produced in the Brian Setzer, from fat, woody bass fiddle tone to the varied tone colors of Brian's guitars, to the accurate tone reproduction of the horn section and drums--the cable simply allowing my DAC to deliver the best, most listener involving, enjoyable live performances yet!

1/06/13 update

I've been listening/watching some DVD's of live performance concerts viva my computer and am still highly impressed and excited about the natural sound timbres and soundstage clues produced with this USB cable in my system! I know what natural acoustic instrument timbre should sound like--that is i've attending a lot of acoustic music concerts and performed in orchestras, jazz and rock bands.

I listened to the Andrea Bocelli DVD, Under a Desert Sky, and this WW Platinum Starlight cable simply delivers accuracy to the live event--sweet, natural sounding vocal and string section tone that can touch your heart and emotions! Other instruments tone, like piano, guitar and harmonica are presented in a natural life-like way.

On the David Clayton-Thomas's DVD, You've the One, I'm hearing high resolution, rounded, life-like horn sounds, beautifully sweet and natural piano and Hammond B-3 organ tone, fat, rounded bass and guitar tones, and abundant soundstage clues--in other words what you would hear at a good, live concert of music in this style. For the finale at concert's end, "Hi De Ho," David Clayton-Thomas brings out a large gospel choir of 55 voices. The WW Platinum Starlight USB cable helps my DAC realize the potential of the recording--reproducing the choir in high resolution with dynamics and without strain, with a full and natural tone!

I haven't heard the above listed USB cables.

My advice is to do your homework and read all the reviews of outstanding USB cables before buying.

IMO, 100% silver digital cables generally offer the best performance due to superior square-wave response (best accuracy in the transmission of 1s & 0s)--but are pricey.

You will be compromising the sound of your Esoteric K-03 through USB unless you go with a top notch cable.

I bought my WW Platinum Starlight USB cable through Ivan (Masterlu) who offered me a very good deal.

Read the following thread for user feedback on Cardas and Wireworld USB cables.

I have a 2m on order. I tried a 5m Silver Starlight in my other system and was surprised by the improvements over a Belden Gold cable. In my main system, I tried using the 5m Silver Starlight in place of my 2m Entreq Konstantin with Minimus grounding system. I thought the Silver Starlight would be no match for it given the difference in lengths and the Minimus grounding system, but the Silver Starlight held it's own.

Will report back when my Platinum Starlight arrives.

The WW Platinum Starlight USB is the finest cable of it's kind on the Planet; IMHO.

Hi Roger,

Could you comment on what length you had previously with the Belkin, and what length your current WW is when you noticed the improvement? Thanks!

Junker, the Belkin Gold USB cable was 2 meters and the WireWorld Platinum USB is 3 meters.

Interesting... So, even better at longer length. That is a good USB cable. I'm still torn between going short as possible vs. your length to reduce any possibility of digital echoes.

Currently, I have a 0.5m silver cable, but I'd love to directly compare to a 0.3 and 1.5M. Looking forward to THE Show to check out the MSB gear...

Thanks!
