Matt.......The Aurender Conductor app communicates with the N10 via WiFi from an iPad to your WiFi enable router. The N10 itself is hard wired via Ethernet cable to the same router. The N10 accesses Tidal via your Internet subscription to Tidal's website via the Ethernet connection to the router and controlled by the Aurender Conductor app. Tidal appears on an iPad in the Conductor app in the the same manner and with the same playback functions that Conductor uses to play files stored on the N10 hard drive. It is seamless and nothing to worry about.

Don't quote me on it but I assume that if the Aurender N10 was Ethernet connected to a wireless hub like an Airport Extreme or similar device, it could then communicate wireless via WiFi to your router, albeit with slower file transfers. Hard wire is the way to go.

Just a quick other question - if I can sneak one in?

I understand the initial Conductor App was for Mac, with Android released with limited functionality later. What's the current status of Android usability vs. Mac?

Cheers

Matt

Matt.......The Aurender Conductor app was initially developed for the iPad. It is available as a free download from the iTunes store. The Aurender Conductor app for Android is available as a beta version. It is available from the Goggle Play store. It works perfectly with my N10. Tidal is not yet integrated into the Android app but I am confident it will be in the final version. See post #101 in this thread

Hi Jandy,

Glad to hear how much pleasure the N10 is giving you.

One question is that if i have master clock of 22mhz fed to my K01x, with the Aurender playing 96Khz files means that i will have to switch clock frequencies as 96khz files are associated with 24 clock frequencies.

I recall from my experience when i had a Auralic streamer for a short while sometime back playing various files. There was no automatic selection of sampling frequencies in the Esoteric.

I understand this is managed by a serial link for the W20 connecting a DCS Vivaldi stack which this link is responsible for communicating between the Aurender and Vivaldi clock to auto select whatever difference frequency files being played.

This would surely limit my enjoyment for a Aurender and having to keep manually selecting different clock frequencies. I suspect this will not be so if fed a 10M clock to the Esoteric.

Your kind experiences will be appreciated.

Thank you.

justubes.......According to the Esoteric K-01X and K-03X manual, the unit's master clock is synchronized to the clock signal (44.1kHz,
48kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 176.4kHz, 192kHz or 10MHz) input through the CLOCK SYNC connector and used for operation when selecting CLK>SYNC.

The 22.5792MHz/24.576MHz signal input through the CLOCK SYNC connector is used as the master clock.

I am not an external clock user, nor am I experienced enough with external clocks to be offering advice on their operation and compatibility, but as I understand it the synchronized 10MHz clock input would not have to be manually changed for different resolutions.

Anyone more experience with external clocks than I am, please feel free to correct my comments if they are inaccurate.

I use an older g0rb clock with my K01x. When using the USB input, I have to switch between 44.1k and 48k clocks when playing 44.1, 88.2, 176.4 or 48, 96, 192 files.

It is a pain, my understanding is that when using a 10mhz 'universal' clock frequency then no additional switching is required, the K01x can derive any required clock freq needed to match the file. I have not tried it myself, maybe someone else can verify.

I do not own an Aurender, but I would question if the w20 can accept 10mhz clock. If connecting the w20 to the k01x via USB in asynchronous mode, then I don't think the w20 clock would be used anyway.

phunge.......This is drifting off the original topic. It is worthy of its own thread.

My Olive was giving me fits for a while( ok now after replacing the hd)and wasin the market for a replacement. I read your review and wondering how the n10( a little pricey currently) compared to the n100 and the Olive. The local dealer has both of them but they are in a snobbish reality (mac sucks, you need something more musical). I think the Olive actually sounds pretty good in my system.
