Hello Laurent,

I have Fadel Art power cords for the 1.2KWs; all other power cords are Cardas; and one of our friends who is National Electricity Company Engineer (ingénieur chez EDF) custom made a very heavy black box with Schaffner filters (no EMI) and transfo etc where are plugged each McIntosh gear in its own hole given their own specifications (I don't know if I'm clear for our american friends, please excuse my poor english): anyway we have a quasi total immunity/isolation from electric pollution. The system is very quiet, Jérôme has the same too.

So, today, I discovered this thread and spent all of my free time reading each and every post. Not that you would have needed my advice (obviously), but, as I was reading, I wanted you to go with the W/P 8 since that is what "spoke to you"! I'm very glad that's what you did. You know that I give you a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS, and I've always liked Topaz, so your color choice was perfect.

Going forward, I look forward to hearing further impressions, and I welcome you as a Wilson "brother"!

Thank you for the very kind words Robert !

Yes, absolutely, not "my cup of tea" ( except for the Alexandrias ) until 10 days ago. And now, yes, I understand your enthousiasm Wilson owners.
This kind of discovery does not happen often.
I believe that a small "germ" of " your speakers could give you more excitment " was growing inside of me since a few months.
I am delighted by what I discovered and how wrong I was when I was qualifying the Wilsons as "over detailed, clinical, analytical and so on...".
They sound like real and live music and they sound neutral. They have a refinment touch I always heard but now I know this better the more I listen to them: they seem to extract the essence of the musical performance and they clearly "scotch" you in the listening room.
Some recordings are not sounding very good in my room yet ( and I still prefer the voices on the PMC and their warmer sound for "cold recordings" but the price to pay for those both things is rather high : you don't get as close to the music as you get with the Wilsons, to my ears and my present mood ) but I know that many factors come into account and have not been adressed yet :
- they are not spiked ( although my listening of yesterday night showed me that they will probably stay right were they are until Bill would come to Paris one day )
- I did not finish the room treatment
- they are cabled with cheap ( but good ! ) Speltz anticables. I know that my WWSE6 will make a HUGE improvement in terms of musicality and I will also check those Transparent cables.

The WP have relighted my flame for listening to music "completely" in a state of "full consciousness".

Congrats, Jerome! I was having a similar time tonight with my new speakers and know how you feel. I'm in bed now, but I'm wide awake as the music engaged my whole mind. It sounds like you might have been even more moved (literally; to dancing!). I'm happy for you. Cheers

Serge,
Which model of Transparent cables do you use between your Momentums and the Sashas ?

Since I got the WP8, I have had the feeling that some recordings were sounding so good that thet may have been mastered on WP speakers but no one sounded as good as "Hot Rocks".
I just never heard such an experience of having a full band playing in front of me, in complete transparency and with this realism, a tottaly uncompressed dynamic sound, a stereo image like I never heard before. I have all the Stones recordings remastered by Ludwig so I will listen to the others but honestly this experience was jaw dropping like no other I had before in this hobby.
And all this was at a very moderate volume ( it was midnight here with the kids and wife sleeping just a floor below ) : 32 on the C1000 !
In a review of the WP8, I don't remember the journalist, but the guy states that the WP speakers are "little Alexandria" : I could not agree more. I did not listen to the Stones on the Alexandrias but the WP are the only speakers to date to give me this sensation of excitment.
Can you imagine ? I was tired and the music was so real that I started to dance in the room !
Jerome, I know the feeling well. Since my Wilsons are in the theater in the basement and the room is well insulated with floated walls, I can play as loud as I want any time of the day or night. I know exactly what you are saying about the uncompressed dynamics, the realism and transparency. In my theater, I will usually dim the lights and let the music play. What opens up in front and on the sides of me is a totally realistic recording space where the performance took place. The walls of the room are dissolved and I am transported to the time and place and I feel as if I was sitting there in the audience. When the sound/images appear from beyond the walls, it is rather spooky but so REALISTIC! I not only hear the music but I also feel it. The Sasha's dish out incredibly realistic bass notes that energize the room and my body with the impact from the drums, the deep tingling of the bass instruments, you feel the power of the instruments and you hear their beauty! Highly addicting. That is why I keep coming back to Wilson and this time they are not leaving!

I can only concur with the comments made so far regarding Transparent cables.

As you progress up the model range you certainly do get a significant increase in performance, however my view is that ratio diminishes once you hit the Reference level (not XL).

My system uses full Transparent - from the PIMM2 power isolator, PowerLink power cables through to Reference balanced interconnects and speaker cables (all MM2, with the exception of the PowerLinks being MM2X). The synergy really adds a significant amount.

One point which hasn't been made so far is the excellent customer service Transparent offers. I recently sent my cables back to be re-calibrated for my new equipment and they constantly provided feedback. Very impressive indeed.

Also note that Transparent offers an excellent trade up program so you always have that upgrade path for the future.

Marc.
